When coming down the birth canal 

Who know

When taking that first mortal breath

Who knew

When locking eyes with nature

Who knew

When first hearing the beat of a human heart

Who knew

Life would be bright light and beauty

Who knew

Life would be an exercise of give and take

Life would be loud and fast

Life would be pleasure and pain

Life would be mystery and mayhem

Life would be a chance to dance with shadow

Life would be  sunshine and rain

Life would be wonder and wildness

Life would be laughter and love

Life would be a playground of 

unknowns and the unexpected

Life would be an arena

to grow spirit and soul

A spiraling

potpourri of miracles

Who knew!

One sweet little meow usually

 gets my cats what they want.

And in my experience, most dogs 

pretty much make clear their 

appreciation for the simplest

 acts of kindness.

Innocence breathes in pure truth.

But we mortals chronically go awry

misunderstanding each other’s

spoken words and beating hearts. 

And in our attempts to communicate our truth 

and our needs, we fall seriously off the mark, all too often.

Pray we prime a collective emotional intelligence,

with honest receptivity and refined mindfulness.

Intending and initiating peace, 

forgiveness and soulful understanding.

Begone the insane blame games in vogue! 

Let us support each other, 

living as loyal sisters and brothers.

Pray we get on track, hit the mark and apply 

ourselves wisely, honestly and lovingly.

Let us create a better world

on pathways of thoughtfulness 

and light filled gratitude.

Spirit warriors sound the drum

Light carriers wake the day

Truth seekers lead the way

Say yes to life

Say yes to kindness

Say yes to harmlessness

Let go the crazy maker

Let go the abusive ego

Within the deepest 

chambers of the human heart

exists a sacred rhythm and a sacred art

Wise is the breath of creative living

Holy be the gift…Love be the giving
