A Prayer a Day

Let our prayers shake
the cobwebs off the minds of mad men.
May we act to provide
safe havens for the innocent of heart.
Let us each work to find the peaceful
garden within our very beings.
May we heal our addictions to power and to warring.
How much longer must mortals endure the ignorance of ego?
Let spirit lift our thinking and guide us up
the mountains of inspiration to remove
the "cruel of sword" from our hands.
Oh Lord speak now into the ears of all oppressors,
wake them from their illusions and free all of us
from the nightmares.
May humankind come to know
the sacred meaning and miracle of living.
