A Prayer a Day

I came upon a really round bellied,
healthy winged critter today, while I
was walking in the rain.
We stood still looking at one another for quite
awhile, seemingly lifted from time into a pure moment.
I was telling him what a beauty he was and he was taking it in with feathered pride and enjoying the admiration.
Then we both sauntered further down
the block holding our connection.
I could feel the connection we both intended.
I focused my love on that
winged one and he responded.
I pray this day we mortals
focus our attention on one another from a loving place in us, and into our world for the things that matter.
And what matters is our humanity and all those sharing breath with us.
What matters is making eye contact
and listening with full attention.
Let us consider to heal ourselves of imbalances, the scattering of our good graces, our obsessive behavior and our addictions to these
(admittedly genius) digital toys!!!
We are flesh
We are blood
We are living beings
We are truly in need of the warmth of a
smile and the light shining glow of witnessing eyes
Human-Beings... be present for each other
Human sisters...Human brothers... Notice who stands before you now!
