A Prayer a Day

Forever fortunate
those of us with
food on our tables
toilets that flush
lights that turn on
fresh water for drink
baths to cleanse our bodies
roofs over head
clothing for cover
privilege
to come and go
and the freedom
to express ourselves.
May we never take any
of these things for granted.
Let us avoid in us the “greed seed”
that ego hungers so cleverly to plant.
What matters in truth is human spirit,
human heart and the wellbeing of humanity
May we remain awake in our gratitude
sharing our good fortune without fear.
