A Prayer a Day
07/10/16
She kissed her little boy’s
knee right on the spot where he fell.
She said “There now, all better baby, all better.”
He hugged her hard, he loved her so, and ran off to play in the yard.
Back then his life was simple
and innocent, happy and carefree
gentle and kind, filled with gestures
of love and laughter, with no thought paid to his young mind, as to what might follow after.
Life was imagination and dreams,
popsicles and ice creams.
Grown now into manhood,
life is not how he thought it would be,
certainly not like that kiss to the cap of his knee.
And as each day passes
he finds it simply harder to peacefully be
Witnessing acts of violence
Bullets fired killing innocence
Tearing hearts apart
Scarring souls collectively
Chaos and madness
High frequencies of sadness
Sinning retrospectively
Screams so loud hard to hear
A son a mother a father’s tear
Too many lives ending
Too many dear ones ascending
Then it’s love he remembers
That kiss of love he recalls
The healing tool of holy hearts
Isn't it love we all must choose
Isn't it love that mend our broken parts
