A Prayer a Day

I greet the dawn with a
long yawn and a prayer
I find myself gazing
lovingly into the
adoring eyes
of my felines
Both presenting themselves
before me not so humbly
Rather loudly meowing
Unapologetically
demanding
to be fed
Both crying out
in dire need of
kitty breakfast
Now I Am that I Am
out of bed only to please
these relentless critters,
who everyday restore in me
and remind me of the reality
of unconditional love
Gracing me with responsibility
Awakened to the preciousness
of their innocent lives
and the breath
of my own
And so I enter another day
with a willingness to begin again
To learn something new and
perhaps to offer something
wholesome and holy
to another being
on the path
Vibrating with
a sacred gratitude
