A Prayer a Day

I am hearing youthful sounds outside my window
of children playing with abandon in the school yard across the street.
They are lost in their imaginations and in the vital
enthusiasm and energy of their young bodies.
They are just being kids joyfully having a playfully good time.
Lord knows what their personal lives may be about at home,
perhaps wonderful, perhaps not so wonderful, but in this moment,
it is a comfort to my soul to be witness to their carefree spirits
racing and leaping through time and space in palpable innocence.
God bless on this day the young ones across the street
and each and every young one around the world.
May they be nurtured in the rays of love's light
under the tutelage of minds of wisdom.
