To truly live
as an innocent being
in this world can be painful.
Remaining openhearted, willing to witness
and feel the textures and the harshness
of this shared mortal reality and not crumble,
indeed requires spiritual strength.
Walking roads with holy prowess, if you will.
Facing what's so, takes emotional muscle,
the priming of unconditional love,
and a skillful use of mindful
conscious filters, to protect
oneself from falling
into a crippling despair.
It takes sacred grit to stand steady
to meet these earthly challenges
remaining open, feeling it all
with a nurturing sensibility
to call on the light from within
accessing the wisdom
of eternal innocence
