What a shock it is when
a loved one leaves this earth plane
What a wake up call when a loved one
is no longer here to share the air
What an absolute sting of reality this mortality
And the sharp edges of the truth
of finality, that a loved one is forever gone
As tears flow learning to let go
Feeling a cavernous emptiness
My heavy heart beats on
knowing love never dies
Honoring this day
the loss of a sweet friend
a wonderful human man
a loving soul brother
