A Prayer a Day
02/20/15
I immediately retrieved the remaining one
tender leaf pathetically laying there in shock.
I apologized for not having been more
vigilant in protecting the gorgeous
mother plant, now painfully reduced to
one leaf and three strands of thread-like root,
for having been assaulted by my
pirate- in -house- gangster - felines,
so determined to aggress upon the
deliciousness of her leaves
to pleasure themselves.
I put the tiny leaf
with dangling root
in a shot glass of water
and place it under a lamp.
For many months (perhaps 8 or 9)
I tended to this delicate life force
loving her like a child, and with
prayerful intention, willed her to
fully grow and return once again to her
original wholesome stunning state.
Though a long shot.
As the root grew in strength
I planted it in a clay pot fresh with soil.
After almost a year this one leaf with tiny silk like strands, established herself again as an elegant African Violet blooming with an amazement of fullness.
As the months continued
she began to displayed her return
with a great prowess, bearing
many flowers beyond beautiful,
though unexpected, given that the room
in which she was placed (having the
only closed door necessary to
thwart the felines’ ingress)
registered temperatures
in which she was placed (having the
only closed door necessary to
thwart the felines’ ingress)
registered temperatures
a bit too cool to favor flowering,
yet there she thrived richly
endowed and proudly fertile.
As for the pirate-feline-gangsters,
they are not permitted in her room,
but every day they muse
the possibility of entrance,
the possibility of entrance,
dreaming to pleasure themselves again on
the sweetness of leaves and gods beloved plant.
Not on my watch! Never again!
As so I say love rocks and love restores
and CATS do what they do!
