A Prayer a Day

There are moments in my imaginings
when witness to mortal affairs,
that I begin to consider that we
as a people just might be
from different planets.

Thinking to myself
that if we as a people are behaving
that if we as a people are behaving
in such stunningly different ways
defending and fighting
defending and fighting
from dramatic depths of diversity
fueled for our beliefs and ideologies

so contrary to one another
quite possibly we are not
from the same place.

Then when something
happens on a grand scale
that affects all of us
happens on a grand scale
that affects all of us
whether it be
a welcomed miracle
or a powerful tragedy
and the whole world seems
to collectively respond
from the heart
(if only for an instant),

I reconsider..... perhaps we are
wholly one and the same
from the same place
made of the same elements
of this exquisite mother planet.

WE occasionally get lost to our fears or doubts
but alas when we return to our true selves
something beautiful comes to flower.
